City of Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot - Quebec

Signature Project – Municipal Signage
Project Year: 2018
Project Value: $98,500

In a context of strong demographic growth, the City of Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot wanted to rethink and standardize its outdoor signage throughout its territory. Gradually transitioning from a semi-rural environment to a dynamic suburb, the City needed clear, consistent, and durable signage that reflected its new urban reality.

The call for tenders covered the supply, manufacturing, and installation of different types of signs: park entrances, district signs, additions to existing structures, identification of civic numbers, and rest areas. A comprehensive, multi-faceted project.

The City had previously commissioned a graphic design firm to develop the visual identity for its city entrance signs, directional signs, and park identification signs. The graphic concept was ambitious and distinctive but required precise technical translation to ensure its feasibility and durability on site.

Signalisation Kalitec therefore intervened from the initial stages to adapt the provided visual and ensure its viability. Our team handled the complete technical design, the development of structures, and their validation by an engineer, guaranteeing compliance, safety, and long-term performance.

The signs were made of aluminum, following a rigorous process entirely mastered in-house:
metal cutting, bending, forming, welding, painting, lettering, graphic printing, and application of the Print Armor anti-graffiti treatment, before final installation throughout the territory.

One of the major challenges of the project was the standardization of municipal display, while strictly adhering to the existing visual identity and the standards established by the City. Constant and meticulous monitoring was required at each stage.

Our design director played a key role in the success of the project, ensuring supervision of design, concept approval, prototyping, required adjustments, and final quality control.

Result: harmonized, functional, and durable municipal signage that structures the territory, facilitates orientation for citizens and visitors, and enhances the image of the City of Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot.
